Please read the following and tell me that libraries around the world shouldn’t consider moving George Orwell’s dystopian fictional novel, 1984, to the non-fiction section.

“We Libertarians are plotting to take over the world… so we can leave you all alone.”
That is one of my all time favourite quotes. It says so much in just a few words. Meet the author of that quote… John Ruddick. For over 25 years Ruddick was a member of the Liberal Party in New South Wales, Australia. He left the party and is now a member of the Libertarian Party. In April of 2023 he was elected and became a member of the New South Wales parliament.
On June 28, 2023 Mr. Ruddick delivered his maiden speech to the New South Wales parliament. That has to be a very special moment for a newly elected politician. The speech was posted online for all to see including of course, all his constituents. The quote above is from the speech.

I just hope his constituents were quick to view it at that time because within 7 hours of the speech being posted, YouTube decided to adopt a role they are very familiar and comfortable with, that being, the Internet Gestapo/Stasi. YouTube pulled the video.
What did Mr. John Ruddick say that was so egregious and dangerous that YouTube had to protect all of us ignorant, easily deceived “proles/deplorables?” YouTube stated their actions were based on their “medical misinformation policy.” Of course we all know that YouTube is the bastion of medical science knowledge. Before we look all the “medical misinformation” etc. in the speech that Mr. Ruddick shared, let me digress for a moment.
Newspapers like the Washington Post, New York Times and the N.Y. Post can be sued for libel if they print something they know to be false and it causes someone to suffer “damages.” The editors etc. of these newspapers have control over what appears in their papers and therefore the newspapers can be held accountable. Just ask the Washington Post and the New York Times about the Covington kids “hoax”. More on that in an upcoming post. On the other hand, online social media outlets like YouTube, Google and Facebook hide behind Section 230 of the Communications Decency Act arguing they are not responsible for the content on their platforms. So, in essence, they want it both ways… we aren’t responsible for what gets posted but if we don’t like it, we can remove it and actually do far more and far worse. Clearly these social media platforms must be so altruistic, so concerned for our well-being, and so wise… oh hell, let’s cut the crap… they aren’t any of those things. They are in bed with the postmodern, illiberal, leftist, socialist movement and doing all they can to shut up any one who disagrees with them.
Back to John Ruddick, I could go through in detail everything Mr. Ruddick said in his speech but… are you ready for this… you can watch the speech on YouTube at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hw1zPTDEVxA&t=524s
What!! I thought you said it was pulled. It was but apparently YouTube has got soft in their old age or… maybe their claims of medical misinformation were such blatant lies and the fact that it wasn’t you or me but an Australian New South Wales member of parliament that YouTube “screwed” with, maybe that made their censorship impossible to defend and hence the reposting of the video.
The video runs about 34 minutes and I do strongly recommend watching it but here are a few things Mr. Ruddick touched on.
- The death rate for Covid was about the same for a bad flu. In fact, the average age of those who died from Covid was higher than the average life expectancy age.
- The supposed 2 week lockdown that turned into months was a complete disaster.
- The fewer vaccines you had, the less likely you were to end up in hospital or ICU.
- Excess death rates have soared 15 to 20% since the vaccines were rolled out.
- At the time of the speech there were at least 137,000 adverse reactions filed with the Australian TGA and almost everyone will acknowledge that like VAERS in the USA, adverse reactions are unreported by as much as 90% so take the 137,000 and multiply it by as much as 10 to get a better estimate of adverse reactions.
- People were not interested in getting a 5th shot. (Really! can’t imagine why… see above and below.)
Below is an email from Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center letting the public know where they can get Covid-19 vaccines and flu shots.

Just one problem…. look at the last line in the red square. “The medical center is NOT offering the Covid-19 vaccine to employees.” WTF… Obvious question is why not? If there is an explanation other than 1) the vaccine doesn’t really work or 2) there are too many (and often very serious) adverse reactions to the vaccine, OSUMC ought to provide it. Actually OSUMC ought to provide the reason especially if it is #1 or #2. Do not hold your breath for that to happen.
Back to Mr. Ruddick, he goes on to discuss Net 0 Carbon policies, big government, Sweden and Switzerland, libertarianism, capitalism, propaganda etc. Actually any one of those topics has in the past got people censored, suspended, banned, demonetized etc. by social media outlets.
I would very much like to invite John Ruddick to come to Canada, become a citizen, get elected to the Canadian parliament and become Prime Minister. John Ruddick is just one example of the thousands and thousands, change that, millions of people who have been censored by social media platforms like Facebook, Google and YouTube. You may have never had a single post on any social media platform censored so you might think you have never been censored. Oh but you have… every time one of these wanna be dictator social media platforms steps and in and prevents you from seeing a post they don’t like, you are being censored.
Let’s move on the example #2.

Meet Mayeliin Rodriguez Prado, a 22 year old mom of a little girl. The Cuban government just convicted Prado of being the “author of an intentional and consummate crime of enemy propaganda of a continuous nature” and “author of an intentional and consummated crime of sedition.”
That sounds super serious! What horrific thing did Mayelin do? She must have done something horrendously bad, like try to shoot a president! In August of 2022 there was a small protest in Nuevitas in central Cuba. Mayelin was “foolish” enough to record Cuban police beating 3 girls during the demonstration. She then posted the images to Facebook. Her images also showed other actions taken against the protestors in order to restrict and repress their right to free speech. Of course that definitely has to suppressed and censored. Not only do the images Mayelin posted need to be censored but so does Maylin.
In the Cuban Penal Code you will read this concerning sedition… it is a “crime against the internal security of the State.” Further anyone who “tumultuously and by means of express or tacit agreement, using violence, disturbs the socialist order” can be charged.
Not sure what violent thing Mayelin did and God forbid anyone would disturb the socialist order… but the Cuban court felt a sentence of 15 YEARS in prison was appropriate. Welcome to 1984 in 2024. If you think this is extreme, DON’T because this is what “socialism’ invariably turns into… dictatorships wielding absolute power in order to maintain their power. Want proof (see below)?
Before example #3… Did you notice the word sedition was used. Does it sound familiar? It should if you have paid any attention to the events of January 6th at the Capital in Washington D.C. I am going to write an article on the topic of sedition but for now let me offer the following… a small protest in Nuevitas was not going to overthrow the Cuban government, nor were the events of January 6th in Washington going to overthrow the U.S. government. If that was the intention for either, which I seriously doubt, both had as much chance of that happening as the proverbial snowball in hell. That said, Mayelin Rodriguez Prado is just another example of Big Brother 2024 at work censoring anything and anyone who dares to stand up to and disagree with Big Brother. Let’s move on to our 3rd example that is actually going on today. It is 1984 in 2024 in… Brazil!

Meet Lulu… aka Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, President of Brazil. He became president back in 2002, then won re-election in 2006. Out of politics for awhile, in 2017 he was convicted of money laundering yet he still tried to run in the 2018 election. He was barred but in 2021 the Supreme Court of Brazil nullified his conviction and threw out all pending (yes pending) charges against him which permitted him to run in the last election which he supposedly “won.” I want to go back to an interview he gave back in the 1990s during his pre-president days.
In 1994 “Lulu” was interviewed by Michael Shellenberger (definitely recommend you read his articles etc). At the time Lulu was described as a “democratic socialist who embraced anti-poverty measures but also rejected the authoritarianism and censorship of Communist regimes such as the one in Cuba.” Funny how socialists and socialism in general can sound good at the beginning but once power is gained, it all turns to sh_t.
Shellenberger asked the future Brazilian president the million dollar question… “I asked Lula, if he were elected president, would he transform Brazil into another Cuba, complete with censorship? He said, emphatically, “No.” The Brazilian people loved freedom too much, he explained, as did he.”
Now 30 years later Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva is the President of Brazil again and with the help of an out of control judge Brazil is being turned into Cuba right before our eyes. How ironic when you consider that Lulu’s rise to prominence in the 1970s came about as a labor union leader leading large protests against Brazil’s military dictatorship. The irony is overwhelming. I do not think there is a greater aphrodisiac or a greater addiction than power when it comes to corrupting the human spirit.
Have you ever felt the need to scream… Like when a loved on is standing in the street and does not see the fast moving car heading right at him. Depending on the circumstances you scream “Wake up! or Watch out! or Open your ____ eyes!” I am having one of those moments as I write this. My stomach is churning. I am angry.
In Orwell’s 1984 you will find the Ministry of Truth which would be better named the Ministry of Lies. Quoting Shellenberg again, “Last year, shortly after taking office, Lula created two new agencies, the National Prosecutor’s Office for the Defense of Democracy (PNDD), under the supervision of the Attorney General of the Republic, and the Orwellian-named “Department for the Promotion of Freedom of Expression,” (DPFE) with extraordinary censorship powers.” Talk about a perfect example of doublethink as portrayed in 1984. You create a department to “PROMOTE the FREEDOM of EXPPRESSION” and you give it extraordinary censorship powers! In what universe does that make sense? Answer… in the postmodern, illiberal, leftist, socialist one and nowhere else. Though credited at times to Voltaire is seems the following quote belongs to Evelyn Beatrice Hall in 1906. She stated “I disapprove of what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it.” That is free speech, something that many on the left have completely forsaken and something that Big Brother 2024 will do everything in its power to do away with.
If all of this weren’t so serious, this would be stupefyingly hilarious. This is Orwellian “doublethink’ to the max. In 1984 the Ministry of Truth is all about lies, the Ministry of Peace is all about torture and the Ministry of Plenty is all about starvation. The Brazilian PNDD will do nothing to defend democracy, in fact probably just the opposite. The Brazilian DPFE will do all it can to suppress any and all freedoms of expression that challenge the power and authority of what is becoming more and more a mirror of Cuba. Just a thought… Why the ____ are alphabet organizations like those I just mentioned and others like the CIA, FBI, DHS, the WEF and the WHO more and more becoming enemies of the ordinary people? A simple possibility… none of them are made up of people elected by the people. There is no accountability.
Shellenberger also tells us that “Lula also created the Digital Policies Secretariat, a body linked to the Ministry of Justice. “The Digital Policies Secretariat is responsible for,” it explained, efforts to “combat misinformation and hate speech on the Internet, in conjunction with the Ministry of Justice and Public Security.” Lula also created an innocent-sounding “fact-checking” website whose real purpose was to serve as a foundation for demanding censorship — a de facto “Ministry of Truth” straight out of 1984. (my emphasis) And Lula supported the “Fake News” Bill, which would have created steep financial penalties for social media companies that refused to censor “fake news.”
In case you think this is a somewhat isolated case, although by now I have no clue how anyone could think that, the following comes from the Center for Strategic and International Studies website.
“In October 2020, the Sandinista-controlled Nicaraguan congress passed the so-called cybercrimes law that threatens those accused of promulgating fake news with serious jail time. Similar legislation was passed in Cuba following the unprecedented wave of protests that took place in July of 2021. Later that same summer, the Cuban government issued Decree-Law 35, which levies hefty fines on telecommunications providers if they fail to prevent the circulation of fake news or reports. In Venezuela, the illegitimate National Constituent Assembly approved the Law Against Hate, which carries penalties of between 10 and 20 years in prison to anyone who runs afoul of the government’s views on speech. The law was approved at the request of President Maduro in response to calls on social media platforms to organize the massive anti-government protests that took place between April and July 2017. Not to be outdone, the semi-authoritarian government of Luis Arce is currently pursuing a similar bill (draft law 305) that, according to the president of the National Press Association of Bolivia, threatens journalists with prison time in order to “silence any opinion that may make the government uncomfortable” (author’s translation). That Lula—in the name of defending democracy—would seek to restrict a technology that has been so instrumental in attempts to rescue democracy elsewhere, is curious to say the least.”
Curious??? Not exactly the word I would use… horrific, disgusting or how about EVIL? And to make it personal, my home country, Canada, is trying to become just like Cuba and Venezuela and Brazil. Our despicable Prime Minister and his Liberal Party have a ‘hate speech” bill they are trying to pass, a bill that is so vague that all Canadians will be at the mercy of the “Thought Police” just like in Orwell’s 1984.

Aiding and abetting Lulu is this man, Alexandre de Moraes, current justice of Supreme Federal Court in Brazil. The following comes also from the Center for Strategic and International Studies about Moraes. “Having already directed social media companies to remove thousands of posts that he personally deemed to be pernicious, Moraes was later granted near unilateral authority to effectively determine which content was permissible to share online during the final few days leading up to the October vote (Certainly no election interference possible here… right? Of course this couldn’t happen in the USA or Canada, could it? See my article entitled 51 Intelligence Experts Got It Wrong)
Note the phrase “that he personally deemed to be pernicious.” How nice that one man has that kind of authority! In 2022 Moraes suspended the social media platform Telegram as did another judge in 2023 and if you have been following the news you know that the head of Telegram, Pavel Durov, was recently arrested in Paris. What is Durov/Telegram doing that warrants all of this? Mainly he is refusing to censor free speech on the Telegram platform! Again if you are following the news you know that Moraes has turned his sights on Elon Musk and X to the point X was banned in Brazil.
And it gets “better”…. Should any Brazilian try and connect to X by way of a VPN etc. Supreme Court Justice Alexandre de Moraes ordered that people accessing X using VPNs can be fined up to 50,000 reais ($8,943.74) per day. Talk about power, apparently a Brazilian judge doesn’t just apply the law, he makes the laws as well. Not that any judge in the USA or Canada would do the same… of course not!
Further… Brazil went ahead and froze the bank accounts in Brazil of Musk’s satellite internet provider Starlink. Now that is going way to far and that could never happen… say in Canada… except it did as hundreds of accounts of people who dared support the legal and peaceful truckers’ convoy protest found out, waking one morning to find out their bank accounts were frozen. Congratulations again to our Prime Minister Justin Trudeau who told us all if we were listening back around 2015 how much he likes dictatorships… it makes it “easy” to get things done!
I end as I began…now that you have read this article… tell me that libraries around the world shouldn’t consider moving George Orwell’s dystopian fictional novel, 1984, to the non-fiction section. You think the Russian Ukraine war is dangerous… you think China rattling its saber towards Taiwan is dangerous… you think the Middle East conflict is dangerous… they are but none of that will matter if we let Big Brother take away all of our freedoms and turn us into nothing but slaves.
