1st the Funny – Then the Pathetic
Most of us know one great skill Trump has is trolling the main stream media and the Democrats. There is an observation that seems to very accurate… Trump lives rent free in their heads and he knows it. Ask anyone why they are voting for Harris. 99% of the time you will get a response that focuses on nothing but how bad, how Hitleresque Trump is. What is missing from virtually all of those responses is any mention of her policies. I wonder why? (Okay I don’t wonder because I think I already know the answer!)

It is flat out funny!
I see posts everyday concerning the election and I think it would be fair to say that out of every 10 that come from a Harris supporter, 9 of those saying nothing about Harris or her policies and 9 might be an understatement. They simply express their hatred for Trump and how moronic anyone would be to vote for him. It is a passionate hatred that is hard to describe.
I assume most of you know Trump showed up at a McDonald’s recently and worked the drive through window etc. Clearly he was trolling Kamala and her as yet unsubstantiated claim that she worked at McDonald’s back in her high school or college days.
Love him or hate him this is classic Trump. He knew the main stream media, the Dems and their supporters couldn’t help themselves. They would respond and they did. For example, some denigrated the “event” by complaining it was “staged.” Duh! WOW! I can’ believe how naive I was to think the Secret Service would simply let Trump show up unannounced and start working the drive through in a McDonald’s without some intervention/staging especially in light of Butler PA, the golf course etc. Folks, I don’t care if it is Trump at McDonald’s, Obama at a lemonade stand, Harris and Walz buying Doritos in a convenience store or Biden buying ice cream, none of those happen without the Secret Service “staging” the event.
So the cartoon made me laugh but then something else showed up on my computer screen and it is was pathetic and disgusting. I mentioned that Kamala’s claim to have worked at a McDonald’s has yet to be proven. McDonald’s says they have no record of her working at any McDonald’s but they also acknowledge that they don’t have all employee records from all their restaurants going back that many years. To be fair, I can tell you where I worked as a 15 year old but I am not sure I could prove it. Well the “doubt” went away when this photo showed up on “X.”
There you have it, a young Kamala Harris in her McDonald’s uniform. End of story. MAGA cult put in their place. The “case is closed.” Except…. then this photo showed up!
Apparently the case isn’t closed! Whether Kamala worked at a McDonald’s or fabricated the story in order to appear “ordinary/middle class” is important. However this is something else.
I am sure there are other possibilities but I am going to narrow this done to three and none are funny, at least to me. Instead I would use the word pathetic and we could add disgusting. Clearly someone photo-shopped Kamala’s face on to the photo of Dr. Suzanne Bernier, a Canadian doctor who worked just a couple of hours away from me in London Ontario and sadly passed away in 2007. In fact, she was so respected, a Dr. Suzanne Bernier Memorial Fund was established in her honour.
Progress Matters, the X account that posted the photo-shopped picture, has stated that they removed the picture once they realized it was fake. According to Progress Matters, it has multiple contributors and to quote them… “mistakes can happen.” Please… this is not a mistake and being blunt, Progress Matters should have no trouble finding out who posted the photo and never allow that person(s) to have access to their account again! It was clearly done deliberately. The only “mistake” that took place was either a) Progress Matters isn’t as “innocent” as it claims and the mistake was “getting caught posting the fake photo” or b) Progress Matters having no control over what got posted by their so-called “contributors.” The post itself was NOT a mistake. It was deliberate.
Here is possibility #1. A Trump supporter is part of Progress Matters, altered the photo and posted it knowing full well that it would be exposed and the Harris team and/or her supporters would be blamed and look like idiots. My response to that would be contempt and disgust. Actually if that is the “truth,” maybe Progress Matters could “help” Harris by showing us the proof that this is what happened.
#2 is a Harris supporter(s) altered the photo and posted it somehow thinking it would help Kamala and make the MAGA supporters questioning Harris’s claim of working at McDonald’s look foolish. My response to that is disgust plus you are an idiot. In this case, don’t bother identifying the moron, it would accomplish nothing. The photo would just join the mountain of fake information put out by, in this case, Harris supporters. I think many of us are developing an immunity to all of that “bull___.” (Off topic… Immunity… something apparently Covid-19 vaccines can’t accomplish but I digress…)
#3 is someone who isn’t a Trump or Harris supporter altered the photo and posted it just because they get a thrill out of seeing what turmoil, chaos and hatred they can stir up. My response to that would be disgust and you really need to get a life.
I know all is fair in love and war and apparently politics but, the truth is, “ALL” shouldn’t be fair in any of them. Things like this should never be tolerated and should be condemned, regardless of what side you support.
Gary Varvel’s cartoon is brilliant and funny as hell (strange expression… apparently “hell” is an intensifier increasing the degree of funny). Anyway, the cartoon is hilarious… the photo-shopped photo is exactly the opposite. It is pathetic and disgusting and whoever did it owes the family of Dr. Suzanne Bernier an apology. In fact, Progress Matters ought to contact the family of Dr. Bernier and apologize for “their mistake.”
