January 6th – The Rest of the Rest of the Story

Excuse me… Donald Trump did what on January the 3rd? In the 1st article, January 6th – Who Benefitted? I did my best to bring you the receipts, i.e. the facts, to support what I wrote. What a surprise that more receipts are now becoming available.

The possibility that Trump okayed the use of the National Guard (perhaps as many as 10,000 troops) at the Capitol prior to January 6th was “fact checked” and found to be false by way too many to list main stream media outlets and other organizations back in 2021, 2022 etc. It was fake news, disinformation, bull____ and those suggesting that he okayed the troops needed to be censored. Sounds great except of course, it wasn’t!!! It turns out the “fact checkers” were the ones spreading the fake news/disinformation.

Bottom line is… Was the claim that Trump okayed the use of National Guard troops on the 6th fake news or was it the exact opposite, you know… that elusive thing we call the TRUTH? As we have discovered over the last 8 years or so, it can take years for what is loudly proclaimed as truth by main stream media etc. to be shown to be nothing but fake news, disinformation and often out and out lies. Now I am not foolish enough to think that those who disseminate the bull____ in the guise of news/truth will ever apologize unless absolutely forced to by way of lawsuit (i.e. NY Times, Washington Post and Nicholas Sandman – will explain that in another article) because truth was and never is their real purpose. To paraphrase… when it comes to main stream media etc. “real journalism left the building a long time ago.” Today it is always about promoting whatever narrative supports their “ideology” or perhaps more accurately, the ideology of the “puppet masters” who are pulling their strings.

Our 1st stop is at https://americanmilitarynews.com/2022/08/gen-kellogg-trump-did-request-natl-guard-troops-on-jan-6th-asks-congress-to-release-his-testimony/

Lt. Gen. Keith Kellogg was Vice President Mike Pence’s National Security Advisor at the time of the Jan. 6, 2021 and the Capitol breach. He testified before the January 6th committee.

Lt. Gen. Kellogg suggests that his “full” testimony should be released. I bet it would be illuminating.

In the same article we read the following “According to a Department of Defense Inspector General report from November, Trump asked acting Defense Secretary Chris Miller and Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Gen. Mark Milley on Jan. 3 about preparations for election protests on Jan. 6. The President told Mr. Miller that there would be a large number of protestors on January 6, 2021,” the DoD report states. “And Mr. Miller should ensure sufficient National Guard or Soldiers would be there to make sure it was a safe event. Gen Milley told us that Mr. Miller responded, ‘We’ve got a plan and we’ve got it covered.’”

REALLY? YOU HAVE A PLAN! YOU’VE GOT IT COVERED? Apparently “covered” meant covering up intelligence reports. Covered meant changing the rules regarding how the National Guard could be used on January 6th but not telling the President or Capitol Police Chief Sund. Covered meant the Department of Defense refusing to grant approval for the National Guard to be used at the Capitol on January 6th until it was too late to be really be useful. If I could point to one major failing of Donald Trump in his first term it would be this… failing to recognize and get rid of those he could not trust and to quote a line from a Toby Keith song… Milley should have been “moved to the top of that list.”

In response to an op-ed written by David Bossie in the Washington Post Lt. Gen. Kellogg wrote “Great OpEd. Reinforces my earlier comment on 6 Jan Cmte. Has quote from DOD IG Report regarding 3 Jan 2021 meeting with Actg Def Secy Miller/CJCS Milley in the Oval on the 6 Jan NG request by POTUS on troops needed. I was in the room.” ( I added the emphasis.)

Let’s add another receipt to the pile. Here we turn to Mollie Hemingway and her article at the Federalist. https://thefederalist.com/2024/03/08/exclusive-liz-cheney-january-6-committee-suppressed-exonerating-evidence-of-trumps-push-for-national-guard/

Hemingway points out that Liz Cheney, who was lead “Republican” on the January 6th committee, claimed there was “no evidence” supporting Trump’s claims regarding his support of the use of National Guard troops on January 6th. However, Hemingway points out that in his 1st transcribed interview Anthony Ornato, Trump’s Deputy Chief of Staff, told Cheney and others that he overheard Mark Meadows, Trump’s Chief of Staff encourage Washington D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser to ask for as many National Guard troops as she felt would be necessary to protect the city.

To be accurate Mayor Bowser apparently did ask for a few hundred National Guard to be deployed but note the following… In a letter sent to Maj. Gen William Walker, commanding general of the D.C. National Guard Mayor Bowser wrote… “No DCNG personnel shall be armed during this mission, and at no time, will DCNG personnel or assets be engaged in domestic surveillance, searches, or seizures of (U.S.) persons.”

Hemingway writes “A follow-up letter from Christopher Rodriguez, director of the District’s Homeland Security and Emergency Management Agency, said that the DCNG’s primary mission would be “crowd management and assistance with blocking vehicles at traffic posts [traffic control points or TCPs].” Nowhere do you read that the National Guard would be used to protect the Capitol. In fact, as I pointed out in the 1st article, the Department of Defense changed the rules concerning how the National Guard could be used just 48 hours prior to the 6th.

Going back to Ornato, the article goes on to tell us that he testified that Trump suggested 10,000 troops might be necessary. Further, he noted that on January 6th the White House was not happy with how slow Acting Secretary of Defense Christopher Miller acted when it came to deploying the National Guard.

To try and defend her statement there was no evidence supporting Trump okaying the use of the National Guard on January 6th Cheney points out the “fact” that the Government Publishing Office posted “transcripts, documents, exhibits and our meticulously sourced 800+ page final report.” I have no reason to doubt the report was extremely “meticulously sourced.” In fact I am 100% sure it was! Want another conspiracy idea… it was meticulously sourced so it would present just one narrative regarding January 6th, the one Pelosi, Cheney etc. wanted out there, the one and only narrative main stream media would pound down the throats of the American public.

Note that Cheney stated that the GPO posted “transcripts, documents, exhibits and our meticulously sourced 800+ page final report.” That is a fact I do not doubt but do you see what word is missing from that sentence? It would be the word “ALL.” What Cheney doesn’t point out is that less than 50% of the interviews the committee claims to have conducted appear on the site. I know it will sound like another conspiracy theory but is it possible some of those interviews don’t support the narrative Cheney and others want to continue to present as fact? If that isn’t the case, why not post all of the interviews?

Chairman of the House Select Committee Barry Loudermilk has alleged “It’s obvious that Pelosi’s Select Committee went to great lengths to prevent Americans from seeing certain documents produced in their investigation. It also appears that Bennie Thompson and Liz Cheney intended to obstruct our Subcommittee by failing to preserve critical information and videos as required by House rules,” Loudermilk told Fox News Digital. Hopefully more about this will emerge in the near future that will prove or disprove Loudermilk’s accusation.

Continuing with Ornato, Hemingway notes that since the D.C. mayor didn’t ask for more National Guard troops the White House suggested having a National Guard “quick reaction force” set up nearby at Joint Base Andrews. In his testimony Ornato states that Trump’s Chief of Staff, Mark Meadows, kept checking with the DoD on January 6th to see why that “quick reaction force” wasn’t being deployed. One narrative suggested by some (i.e. people like Cheney) was because Trump might use the National Guard to support his efforts to “overturn” the election. Really! I think I would go with the following… those who were spewing that narrative knew full well that scenario wouldn’t happen. Instead, the National Guard would have prevented the riot from happening or put an end to the riot and that wouldn’t help the narrative that the “powers that be” wanted out there.

I wasn’t sure it could get even slimier but it did. Liz Cheney posted an op-ed in the Washington Post attacking Trump prior to January 6th but that wasn’t enough for her. The Daily Mail published the following back in May of 2021. The article written by Geoff Earle starts with this…

Final nail in Liz’s coffin? Cheney ‘secretly orchestrated Washington Post op-ed by all ten living former Defense Secretaries – including her father – warning against Trump’s efforts to politicize the military’, new report claims

Would you like to guess the date Cheney’s op-ed ran? Are you surprised that it ran three days BEFORE January 6th? In an article by Bob Brigham and posted on salon.com in May of 2021 he writes that Eric Edelman, a friend of Cheney’s and an advisor to her father, Dick Cheney, revealed to Susan Glasser of The New Yorker that…

“Cheney’s rupture with the House Republican Conference has become all but final in recent days, but it has been months in the making. Edelman revealed that Cheney herself secretly orchestrated an unprecedented op-ed in the Washington Post by all ten living former Defense Secretaries, including her father, warning against Trump’s efforts to politicize the military,” Glasser reported.

Do you wonder why the “deep state” hates Trump? Here is one reason. Donald Trump was the only president in the last 20 years to NOT get the USA involved in any new wars during his term in office. In his last 11 months as President how many US soldiers in Afghanistan were killed? The answer is 0, zero, none!

Who would not be thrilled with that? How about Neocons in US politics, those who love conflicts resulting in the Department of Defense budget expanding… resulting in more and more military defense contractors getting more and bigger contracts. Think about it. Sending 30 tanks to the Ukraine costs the US taxpayer about $300 million dollars. Let Russia blow them up and then all the defense contractors involved in building the tanks will get another $300 million contract. And then we can add in the USA contractors who will come in after the war and “rebuild” the country that the USA helped blow up! Sometimes there are people who really do not want the war to end… Vietnam for 20 years, Afghanistan for 20 years and now the Ukraine for who knows how many years. And if there was a list of politicians who have never saw a war they didn’t like, I think the Cheneys might be near the top of that list. And if you think the Russia/Ukraine war hasn’t been orchestrated, stay tuned. We will definitely be tackling that in another article.

Food For Thought – Consider all of the above and add the fact that Cheney also wrote on op-ed calling on the Supreme Court to decide quickly rule on the the immunity issue regarding Trump. They did but she probably hated the ruling. Now let’s add in the fact that she has come out and endorsed Kamala Harris. Boy am I surprised!!! Want to know the truth that Liz Cheney maybe doesn’t know… NOBODY CARES! Liz Cheney got her ___ handed to her by the voters of Wyoming. Cheney got 49,339 votes. Her opponent, Harriet Hageman (who the ___ is she?) got 113,079 votes. Cheney has the honor of losing by the 2nd largest margin of defeat by a House of Representatives incumbent in 60 years.

Okay my rant on Cheney is over for now. Now we add another receipt to the pile.

The following includes quotes from an article by Jonathan Turley which can be found at https://jonathanturley.org/2024/03/12/report-trump-did-propose-10000-national-guard-troops-on-january-6th/

In case you don’t know who Turley is here is the description found on Wikipedia.

Jonathan Turley is an American attorney, legal scholar, writer, commentator, and legal analyst in broadcast and print journalism.[3] A professor at George Washington University Law School, he has testified in United States congressional proceedings about constitutional and statutory issues. He has also testified in multiple impeachment hearings and removal trials in Congress, including the impeachment of President Bill Clinton and both the first and second impeachments of President Donald Trump.[4][5] Turley is a First Amendment advocate and writes frequently on free speech restrictions in the private and public sectors.

I included this rather lengthy description of Turley to show you that Turley is a respected and qualified attorney, analyst and commentator and as far as I can tell, Turley doesn’t seem to be biased toward one side or the other. In his article Turley sums up what we are discussing very succinctly. He writes “Trump has long claimed that he proposed the deployment of the National Guard troops (as was done previously at the White House during violent protests). The January 6th committee said that was a lie.” Somebody is definitely lying… you can decide who.

Turley continues noting that the Washington Post “debunked” Trump’s comments with an award of “Four Pinocchios.” That is hilarious. I wonder how many “Pinocchios” the Post has awarded itself for publishing articles that at best were fiction and perhaps out and out lies. For “years” WaPo wrote extensively presenting the Russia/Trump collusion story as fact. After three or four congressional hearings plus the Mueller Special Counsel investigation that went on for a couple of years and cost the American taxpayers probably 25 to 30 million dollars it turns out the Washington Post was wrong. The Trump/Russian collusion story was nothing but a hoax orchestrated by the Democratic National Party, Hillary Clinton and their cohorts and promoted as much as was possible by main stream media, social media outlets etc.

Then we had WaPo and the Covington Hoax (now that one was expensive for the Post), or how about when the Post ran a story criticizing Donald Trump for selecting Mick Mulvaney to be OMB director. According to WaPo, Mulvaney didn’t have enough experience and their proof was the “fact” that Mulvaney never served on the House Budget Committee. The problem was, Mulvaney did serve on the committee and anyone with a computer and who was willing to spend 5 seconds searching the internet would know that. How about when the NY Post broke the Hunter Biden laptop story and within 24 hours WaPo’s reporter Greg Sargent posted an article debunking the NY Post article. The accusations according to Mr. Sargent were “laughably weak.” Once again the fake news, the disinformation belonged to the Washington Post and the truth belonged to the NY Post. Then we had the Latino Passport hoax. You know you really screwed up when another left wing publication, in this case the Huffington Post, debunks what you published.

It gets better. Turley notes that Glenn Kessler, a Washington Post reporter admitted that Trump raised the issue about deploying National Guard troops on January 6th. Excuse me… didn’t the Washington Post declare that Trump’s claim was pure B.S.? And yet according to Turley, Kessler states that Trump brought up the issue on at least 3 occasions. To perhaps mitigate that fact, Kessler states “Trump brought up the issue on at least three occasions but in such vague and obtuse ways that no senior official regarded his words as an order.”

Turley writes “the issue is not whether Trump issued “an order” but made an offer that was declined.” In what I think is an intriguing statement Turley states regarding the events on January 6th that “I also noted that I had never seen the Capitol so thinly protected in a major protest.” Hmmm… I wonder why?

Trump encouraging an insurrection has been a talking point that has been regurgitated over and over and was used to try and keep Trump off ballots in Maine, Illinois and Colorado. REALLY! Strange way to plan an insurrection, don’t you think? He wanted an insurrection but okayed the deployment of 10,000 National Guard troops at the Capitol on January 6th!

Couple what you have read in this article with the first article I wrote on this topic January 6th – Who Really Benefitted? and you may find yourself coming to a very different conclusion about what really happened in Washington that day.

At least for the moment, now you know the Rest of the Rest of the Story regarding that day. I am writing this less than 3 weeks before the 2024 Presidential election. If Kamala Harris wins and the Democrats control the House of Representatives, this story will die a fast death. If however, Donald Trump wins and the Republicans control the House, I will not be surprised if at some point I end up writing a Rest of the Rest of the Rest story. Stay tuned.

Doug
